Grand View, Penn Foundation closing their behavioral health unit - Nashville Business Journal:

Both organizations are shifting their behavioral healthu focus away from inpatienf care and more towardsoutpatient services. Penn Foundation of Sellersville, Pa., will continuwe to operate its crisis services program through the emergency department ofGranxd View, also in Sellersville, and its crisis telephone hotlinde will continue. Penn Foundation psychiatristxs will remain on staff at Grand where they will be on call to provide consultative psychiatric services tohospital inpatients. An estimateed 14 full-time equivalent support staff employees of Grancd View and three PennFoundation full-time equivalent employees will lose their jobs as result of the change.
They will be encouragec to pursue other existing opportunities with thetwo “A key factor that has led to this decision is the very reducedf level of utilization that is being experienced on the behavioral healthh unit,” said Stuart Fine, president and CEO of Granc View. “New medication regimens and restructurecd outpatient approaches to care have had a remarkable impacr uponbehavioral health. Our inpatient service that had long attendedr to 12 to 16 patients per day is now attending to only six to eightrsuch patients.
” Penn Foundation has piloted several programs in recenft years that are specifically designed to prevent hospitalization and to promotde independent living and community involvement. The organization is planningy an expansion of its facilities to supporgtthe community’s growing demand for several levelsd of outpatient services. “Penn Foundation and Grandx View have had a close working relationship that extends back for over 50 saidJohn Goshow, Penn Foundation CEO. “Our organizations have coordinated in the development and operation of a variety of programssand services.
This decision has been made jointly, and we will continuw to cooperate in workinh to address as best we can the behavioral health needsx ofarea residents.”
