Voting begins on King Soopers contract offer - Portland Business Journal:

Voting on the five-year offetr by members of United Food and Commerciao Workers Local 7 will continuethroughh Wednesday. Union leaders are not making a recommendatiobn to their members on the contract which the union complains wouls cut pension benefits by an averageof $100,000 -- a conclusiohn disputed by management. “It’s a good contract in a normall economy. It’s a great contract in this King Soopers spokeswoman Diane Mulliga saidlast week. She said roughly 65 percenrt of workers would get raises underdthe company’s proposal. King Soopers is a Coloradpo unitof Cincinnati-based (NYSE: KR). Colorado workers for two otherf grocerychains — Pleasanton, Calif.
-based (NYSE: SWY) and Idaho-based (privately held) — continue to negotiate separate deals with their employers. If King Soopers workers rejecythe chain’s latest proposal, they will continues working without a contract until an agreemeny is reached or a strike is called. Their contracty expired May 9.
