Penn said Bon Appetit is knownh forits sustainable, socially responsible business practices. Bon which is based in Palo Alto, replaces Philadelphia-based . It will implementr a “low-carbon diet,” a plan to reduce food-servicd related greenhouse emissions by 25 percent overthred years. It will also help institutre a programcalled “circle of responsibility,” whicy will teach students about “how theie food choices impact the environment, community and personakl well being.” The new service will also providse more options at the Houstob Market, the food court in Penn’ds student union.
Offerings will include Mongolianm wok-style cuisine, a Latin food station and a desseryt bar. While the contract covers most campusefood service, Aramark will continue to provide food servicea at the Steinberg Conference the Palestra arena and technicapl engineering services. Current Aramark employees are notguaranteed jobs. But Bon Appetitt said it would hold interviews with Aramarj employees onMay 20-21. In a WARN notice filed with the Aramark said it would cut 185 jobs at effectiveJuly 12.
